About Ridgefield Park, NJ Real Estate Market

Surrounded by boroughs of Bergen County like Hackensack, Bogota, Little Ferry, Leonia, Ridgefield, Palisades Park and Teaneck, Ridgefield Park is a small village, that is a part of Bergen County in New Jersey state. Ridgefield Park covers an area of 1.91 square miles, with around 13,000 people living in it, making it one of the most densely populated villages in Bergen County.

Ridgefield Park is one of the only four places in New Jersey operating a Walsh Act village type of government among the 565 municipalities statewide. The formation of the village started in 1892 within the Ridgefield Township, based on the results of a referendum that came out in the same year. The village of Ridgefield gained portions from Ridgefield Township only for the establishment of Ridgefield Park as a new village. In 1897, Overpeck Township was created to co-exist with Ridgefield Park, which became Ridgefield Park Township in 1938. The naming of the Ridgefield is derived from the name of the area’s terrain.

Given that it is a village, the New Jersey real estate options are limited here, with the Ridgefield village mostly having small-sized homes for sale preferred in New Jersey by nuclear families. On every Fourth of July, Ridgefield Park hosts a community parade, the oldest event taking place every year in New Jersey.
